Steven Ivey

Originally from the UK, Steven’s career has predominantly been focused on System Safety and Assurance with lead roles in Defence, Rolling Stock and Rail Infrastructure development. With a passionate interest in System Safety, Steven graduated from Lancaster University with an MSc in Safety Engineering. Working for BAE Systems in the UK, he was the Safety Lead for military fast jet development and upgrade programs for the UK and Saudi Royal Air Forces. Arriving in Australia in 2011, Steven brought with him a wealth of expertise and experience in Safety management and was appointed Safety Director for the largest new Rolling stock procurement in Australia, the delivery of 78 brand new 8 Car Waratah Air Conditioned trains onto the Sydney Trains rail network. Steven has led the Safety and Systems Assurance activities for a number of new Rail Infrastructure projects including, Automatic Train Protection, Network Power Supply Upgrade, Transport Access Program, Wynyard Walk and Station Upgrade, the Wickham Transport Interchange and Newcastle Light Rail.

 Since Joining Network Rail Consulting in 2016, Steven supported the Final Business case submission as the Safety Assurance Lead for the Advanced Train Control System (ATCS) program, and is currently managing Safety Assurance for the Sydney Growth Trains Project as well as Lead Independent Safety Assessor for the Sydney Metro Project, a brand new driverless rapid transit link.

 Steven’s experience brings leading edge System Safety Management and Independent assessment practices into the rail transport industry.
