Nigel Ash

Nigel has 30 years' consultancy experience covering all modes of transport in over 30 countries. Nigel has led a large number of rail projects with a particular focus on project development, feasibility, station planning and business case development.

Nigel joined Network Rail in 2011 to lead Network Rail’s international consultancy business, becoming Managing Director of the newly formed Network Rail Consulting in summer 2012. Prior to joining Network Rail, Nigel was Chief Executive of MVA Consultancy Ltd, subsidiary of Systra, the rail consultancy business of SNCF and RATP. Before this he spent 19 years with Jacobs Engineering Group until 2004, rising to the position of Managing Director of Jacobs Consultancy’s global Transport Practice.

Nigel is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Highways & Transportation and the Chartered Management Institute, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He has BA in Economics and Geography, an MSc in Traffic and Transportation Planning and an MBA from the Henley Business School.
