Australian-born Sir David Higgins, Chief Executive of Network Rail, the owner and operator of Britain’s railway infrastructure, officially opened the Australian office of its consultancy business, Network Rail Consulting, in front of over 100 people at a breakfast prior to day two of Ausrail.

Network Rail Consulting – a subsidiary of Network Rail set up in 2012 - has been awarded the contract to deliver independent safety assessment and advisory services of the highest calibre for this flagship A$8.3bn (approx. £4.8bn) project.

The new partnership means that Network Rail Consulting can complement the full spectrum of expertise from Network Rail with the knowledge, products and services provided by RSSB.

Matthew Savastano has been appointed to develop and implement business strategy in the newly created position of director, railways and Phil Hudson returns to Network Rail since leaving to explore other opportunities in 2008.

Network Rail, the UK’s primary rail infrastructure company, has joined Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor (NEC) Partner Forum in order to share the company’s valuable experience and knowhow in managing and developing high-density passenger rail infrastructure. Network Rail is represented in the Forum by Network Rail Consulting, the company’s international consultancy arm.

As part of its international expansion plans Network Rail Consulting has appointed Dan Athol – director, asset management and maintenance.

Britain's railways are the most improved in Europe, according to the most comprehensive comparison study yet published of the rail networks in all 27 EU countries. 

Network Rail Consulting has appointed Mike Prager as finance and commercial director to help implement its international growth strategy.

Figures were compiled from the results of retailers operating over 500,000 sq ft of retail space totalling over 500 units at 16 of Britain’s biggest and busiest stations which we own and operate. In total, these stations benefit from a combined annual footfall of over a billion.
