Network Rail Consulting to be part of the redevelopment of Baltimore Penn Station
Network Rail Consulting’s role as a core member of Penn Station Partners, the Master Developer selected by Amtrak, will focus on applying our extensive experience with managing all aspects of station redevelopment in the UK to the redevelopment of Baltimore Penn Station. This will include advising on all design elements that will impact and/or reconfigure the functionality of the station for access to the platform level, retailing, pedestrian flow, and coordination with other transit modalities such as Light Rail and Commuter Rail.
Our expertise in Station operations will be instrumental in developing policies and procedures for efficient station operations that provide the highest level of customer service to transit riders but also those visiting the station for other purposes. Given our expertise in project development and management of station redevelopment, we will be working with our partners to apply the necessary policies and procedures to allow the Station to continue to function with minimal disruption to rail service and inconvenience to the customer during construction, including applying the GRIP process to insure that construction progresses in a fashion that minimizes risk and errors and maximizes optimum levels of performance.
“We are thrilled to be part of this team and have the opportunity to bring our expertise and real-world UK experience in turning railroad stations into exciting urban spaces which are centers of commerce and transportation,” said Ron Hartman, President of Network Rail Consulting, North America.
