Jonathan Harris

Jonathan has over 30 years' of railway engineering experience ranging from signalling design, testing & commissioning, project engineering & coordination, and system development. Working within Network Rail, Jonathan has worked in roles delivering complex signalling and recontrol projects, control centre projects, and in overarching system coordination and integration roles ensuring the overall project delivers its business and safety outcomes.

Jonathan joined Network Rail in April 2007 to work on major Resignalling schemes in the West Midlands area of the UK. Jonathan joined NRC in January 2016 to work on the California high-speed rail program as Control Systems SME. Jonathan now works within NRCs System Integration team bringing his experience of complex, real-world, railway projects to help our clients deliver their project successfully.

Prior to joining Network Rail, Jonathan was a Project Engineer working with Invensys Rail (now Siemens Mobility) working on the delivery of signalling, control & indication systems, and control centre projects. Since joining Network Rail, Jonathan has worked in coordination, procurement, and delivery roles on major resignalling projects and on the delivery of two Rail Operating Centres (ROCs) in the Northwest & Central route of Network Rail in the UK. The ROCs are the future home for control centres activities across the route including signalling control, route control, incident management, and possession management.

Jonathan is an Associate Member of the Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers (IRSE) and is working toward full membership. Jonathan is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Railway Operations (CIRO) and is working towards full membership. He is currently studying for an MSc in Railway Systems Engineering and Integration at the University of Birmingham.
