Jonathan Hayes

Jonathan (Jon) is a highly skilled and accomplished professional with over 30 years’ experience in the rail domain. A significant period of his time has been involved developing and applying innovative technical solutions such as European Train Control System (ETCS) and Traffic Management, to meet challenging operational and business needs. Jon has worked in both client and supplier organisations and therefore understands the risks and challenges that both face in the delivery of leading edge technology projects. This insight allows Jon to bring a pragmatic approach to the delivery, maximising the benefits to all parties whilst minimising risk and cost.

Jon joined Network Rail Consulting (NRC) in February 2025 to bring his experience to support delivery on NRC’s Australian projects.

Prior to joining NRC, Jon held senior positions within Network Rail, Systra, Scott-Lister and Ansaldo leading the delivery of European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) and other related technology projects into the railway.

Jon has a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and is a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Jon is based in Sydney.
