Thomas Forbes

Thomas has 20 years' of railway experience across a number of roles and disciplines. Initially working within frontline maintenance teams to managing highspeed rail projects before becoming a specialist in Risk Based Maintenance and reliability projects across multiple disciplines.

Thomas joined Network Rail Consulting (NRC) in January 2025 as an Associate Director Asset Maintenance and Management in the growing Brisbane team.

Prior to joining NRC, Thomas was a Senior Engineer within West Coast and Central routes. Before this, Thomas started as a railway apprentice in 2005 as part of the first cohort of Network Rail’s advanced apprentices. He then had a number of roles within frontline track maintenance, technical assessment and project managing positions.

Thomas is a Chartered Engineer with the Permanent Way Institute and has an MSc in Railway Systems and Integration. He also has a Feng in Electrical Railway Engineering and is qualified with the Association of Project Managers.

Thomas is based in Brisbane.
