Major Projects

Sometimes the only way to deliver a modern customer-oriented rail system is to think big. Our first-hand experience of successful large-scale projects is at your disposal.

Legacy rail networks designed for a different era present their owners and operators with major constraints to modernization, as we know only too well. Sometimes it’s possible to tinker around the edges. But eventually the time comes to make the big decisions.

We have successfully undertaken numerous large-scale projects, creating new infrastructure that links seamlessly into the existing network. Every year, our team delivers 3,500 live rehabilitations and enhancements of our track, bridges, tunnels, buildings & civils, signaling, power & electrification and telecommunications network worth $4.5 billion.

Thinking Big

Because our network is so heavily used, we have not had the luxury of being able to shut down significant segments while renewal work goes forward. As a result, we have become proficient at performing major reconstruction projects, under full operations, relying on careful planning, adherence to schedules, creative solutions to the movements of trains, and extensive customer information. Not only do we keep the trains running during our upgrades, we’ve improved on-time performance by 8% during the past 10 years.

We are experienced at operating in a safety-critical environment with multiple stakeholders, within a complex regulatory regime, delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

We’ll provide you with an integrated team who will manage the planning, design, procurement, construction, operations and maintenance of your projects. Our focus is always on completing projects on time and within budget to deliver an enhanced service to customers.
