Christian Melton

Christian has over 28 years' experience within the rail industry in frontline railway operations, business development, trackworker and construction safety, and environmental management roles. Prior to the rail industry he gained international experience working in oil and gas exploration in the Europe, Africa, and Middle East sector.

Working in a national role for Network Rails’ Technical Authority he consulted with stakeholders and wrote key company standards for trackworker and construction safety applicable to the mainland UK rail industry.

Joining from Network Rails’ Technical Authority Christian has been working for Network Rail Consulting since February 2020.

Christian started his rail career in 1993 with British Rail (through Railtrack, now Network Rail) on the Graduate Management Scheme in Operations Management. Previously he worked offshore for EXLOG, a Houston based oilfield service company, subsidiary of Baker-Hughes and subsequently in geophysics for Norwegian Company NOPEC AS.

Christian is a Graduate Member of The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, and a Practitioner Member of The Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment.

He has a BSc in Geology, a MSc in Basin Evolution and Dynamics from the University of London, a Post Graduate Award in Business Leadership from Warwick Business School, and a NEBOSH Diploma.
