Liam McQuat

As a rail professional with over 20 years’ experience working in the fields of maintenance, engineering and asset management in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Middle East and Australia. Liam has a well-developed understanding of the railway system and how it operates, having led the development, implementation, and management of £850m asset renewal work banks and led maintenance business units of 450 people. He has the knowledge and ability to understand, communicate and escalate risk, as required.

Prior to joining Network Rail Consulting, Liam was head of Engineering & Asset Management for track & lineside assets, Liam provided strategic leadership and direction for Scotland region’s engineering teams for all engineering, asset management and system safety issues. He led the development and delivery of the asset strategy, which considered the strategic needs of maintenance, renewal, and investment activities.

Liam is a Chartered Engineer registered with the UK’s engineering council and is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, CEng FICE and a Fellow of the Permanent Way Institution, FICE.

Liam is based in Boston.
