Rob Stevens
Rob is a Chartered Professional Engineer who has over 24 years’ experience in Railway Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS). Over the course of his career, he has worked on major turnkey projects around the world as part of multi-discipline teams for design, construction and commissioning. He is skilled in team leadership, detail design, technical advisory, construction and works management on client and delivery sides.
Rob joined Network Rail Consulting (NRC) in August 2024 as an OCS Subject Matter Expert to support the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s Rail Systems team working on the California High-Speed Rail Project.
Before joining NRC, Rob was the OCS Technical Lead for TransLink, Belfast, for the NI (Northern Ireland) Electrification Project. Previously Rob had global experience on several blue ribboned rail projects namely West Cost Route Modernisation, Rwang to Ipoh Electrification, The Channel Tunnel - St Pancras Station interface, Cross Rail, Melbourne Metro, Gold Coast Light Rail and Cross River Rail. Rob was also the OCS Professional Head for Aecom, Australia. He has experience with 25kV AC, 1500V DC and Light Rail OCS systems.
Rob is a Fellow of both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Engineers Australia. He is also a member of the Permanent Way Institute. In Australia, Rob is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and Victoria (RPEV) and certified on the National Engineering Register.
Rob is based in Sacramento.
