Rubina Greenwood
Rubina has over 25 years of extensive experience in the infrastructure sector, specializing in introducing robust system engineering and integration within digital rail projects. Her career is defined by exemplary leadership in system engineering, successfully delivering complex technical, safety management, and business transformation programs within the UK's rail sector. She excels in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Rubina joined Network Rail Consulting in March 2024 as the Director of Network Integration for California High-Speed Rail Authority, part of Rail System Engineering Services.
Before joining NRC, she led the Synthetic Environment programme within Network Rail. Prior to that role, Rubina served as Head of System Requirements and Integration at the Digital Railway Programme within Network Rail. She also held the Professional Head of Operational Properties position at Network Rail earlier in her career.
Before her tenure at Network Rail, Rubina spent over five years as Group Lead for the Sustainable Construction Portfolio at Transport Research Laboratory, Crowthorne, UK. Before that, she spent eight years as a Senior Research Fellow at Cardiff University and Glasgow Caledonian Universities, leading Research and Development programs focused on the Sustainable built environment.
Rubina is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), a Member of The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), a Member of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM), and a Member of the Permanent Way Institute (PWI). Rubina holds a Diploma from The National Educational Board in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) and earned her PhD in Architectural Engineering with a focus on Sustainable Construction from the University of Glasgow, UK.
Beyond her professional achievements, Rubina is actively involved in voluntary work internationally. She regularly presents and contributes at the United Nations Human Rights Commission on the impacts of large infrastructure projects on Indigenous communities.
