Ryan Scott

Ryan was appointed as the Subject Matter expert for Traction Power and Overhead Contract Systems on California High Speed Rail in February 2016, overseeing all matters relating to railway electrification and high voltage utility connections.

Ryan joined Network Rail Consulting Inc. from Network Rail Infrastructure Limited, the UK railway infrastructure owner and operator when he managed major multi-discipline capital projects, focusing on railway upgrades and 25kV electrification.

Ryan’s railway career began on the Network Rail Engineering Graduate training scheme in 2004 and progressed through the capital projects division as Project Engineer, Senior Engineer, Engineering Manager and Program Manager leading a $1bn scheme.

Ryan has led schemes in heavy maintenance, renewal, enhancement and new build railways, including Overhead Contact Systems, Traction Power, SCADA and multi-discipline projects including special track work, train control and communications disciplines, managing large teams of Engineers and Project delivery personnel.

Specific schemes Ryan has managed and led include OCS upgrades of the East Coast Main Line, the North West Electrification program, Northern Hub Electrification, Midland Main Line Electrification in the UK, and Electrification elements of the California High Speed Rail in the US.

Ryan holds a BEng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast, a Post Graduate Award in Business Leadership from Warwick University and is registered with the Engineering Council as Chartered Electrical Engineer (CEng MIET).
