Steve Levene
Steve brings over 20 years of international expertise in driving operational efficiency, reducing costs, enhancing customer satisfaction and maximising asset value, reliability and performance. He excels in strategic planning, commercial and stakeholder management, and has a proven ability to build and lead diverse, high-performing cross-functional teams. Steve has extensive experience delivering within operational environments using traditional, progressive, and P3 (Public Private Partnerships) contracts. Steve has successfully collaborated with all three levels of government through honest and pragmatic partnerships with stakeholders and clients across Canada, the UK, and Europe.
Steve joined Network Rail Consulting (NRC) to grow and invest in shaping the future of transit systems in Canada, establishing and leading its Canadian consultancy business whilst taking on the role of Regional Director.
Before joining NRC, Steve served as Chief Operating Officer, Rapid Transit at Metrolinx, an agency of the Government of Ontario (GO Transit), for over four years with responsibility of Rapid Transit Operations, Maintenance, Commercial, Engineering, Asset Management and State of Good Repair. Since relocating to Canada in 2012, Steve has held various roles at Metrolinx and the Ministry of Transport Ontario (MTO). Prior to this, Steve spent five years with Network Rail, contributing to major projects such as Thameslink, Crossrail, and Reading, working on major Transformation programmes and Improving Electrical Safety, including the Electrical Life Saving Rules. Steve’s career began as a graduate at Ford Motor Company Europe before transitioning from automotive to rail with Network Rail.
Steve is a Professional Engineer in Ontario and holds a Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing and Management, along with technical and coaching qualifications.
Steve is based in Toronto.
