Barry West

Barry is a highly experienced railway professional with over 22 years in the operational field. Originally a Train Driver then a Train Driver trainer and assessor, since 2015 has seen Barry working within specific ERTMS (ETCS) operational testing and commissioning teams on various projects.

Barry joined Network Rail Consulting in August 2023 bringing his experience and knowledge of Railway Operations and specifically ETCS integration to the Digital Systems team in Sydney.

Prior to joining Network Rail, Barry was an ETCS Testing and Commissioning operator, instructor and assessor working on major UK projects such as Thameslink and the East Coast Digital Programme. A varied role that including operating and managing test trains, training all relevant rail staff in ETCS and ATO and providing assessments.

Barry holds NVQ certification for assessing candidates (level 3) and coaching/instructing (level 2)

Barry is based in Sydney.
